Tale of Souls Chapter Seven
Error 404: Timeline Possibly Not Found. Quoth the Marked One 404 – Kristoff can’t find his cheap hardcore. The problem is though – I’m not Kristoff. I’m me, and well – that doesn’t help the situation when I don’t know where the fuck I am. I woke up, but not in a bed – not in a chair and not in someone else’s body. I opened my eyes and looked around – I’d been standing in a field just outside of a testing facility. This wasn’t just any testing facility, this was the arena they forced me into after they forced me to change who I was without choice.
Do I remember most of what happened? No. Trauma blocking, barriers and other things getting in the way. Also i’m goddamned thirty eight years old now, do you remember everything from your teenage years?
The way the building looked it seemed like it was out of a video game. The flora and fauna were too bright, the grass was perfect. Everything felt like it was in HDR mode – and the camera was on me.
I guess at the time I never thought about the next stage, until it was too late. I didn’t have a choice in what they were doing to me. I never thought about things in general until it was too late. From what I can remember? They made it sound like this was a choice, like it was paradise.
I walked inside and was greeted by someone that seemed to be in charge of the whole operation.
“Welcome to your new life punk.”
Name tag read “Strode Mcadams, General Military Supervisor.” – his face? Looked like he was a bootlicker, and cared more for how he could control people than actually do his job. Walking into the past was a fucking nightmare when you have nearly no recollection. Trying not to get stuck here is going to be the next part.
He walked me towards the control room. I’d assume this is where they just deal with where they put people in boxes and hope they come out alive. Turns out I was pretty much on point by the time we walked inside. The more I look around the more I can feel like i’ve been here before, not even like it’s deja vu – but the more I know I’ve done this before. Like i’ve failed a duty in a video game and got told to go back and be better.
From the timing of this i’d guess i’d only been out of the hospital three days, and guessing by the pangs of anxiety – I’ve only had a functioning dick thanks to some alchemical magic, for three days. I’m human at this stage still, unless the fucked up version of time infected this version too.
From the window you can see ‘test subject’ rooms. Longer than wider each had a bed, a sink and a toilet. They were similar yet longer than your typical TV version of a solitary confinement room. I know four faces, ok I know three and a fourth is familiar.
“Take care of this kid for me, he’s worth a pretty penny.” The man in the computer chair, the one running this outfit. I still don’t remember this asshole’s name, and I’d prefer not to.
I started raising an eyebrow and trying to speak but only breathing outward like an idiot. I’m standing farther back from the control panel and scratching my head in disbelief. It’s like this reaction is a repeat from every time i’ve walked back here.
The guy in the chair turned to Strode and spoke quietly as to try not to let me hear them both “Choose wisely, but give ’em’ hell – we don’t want him to be a softy.“
Somehow I keep thinking when I get to this point it’s another school, and I’m just here for some form of education. My mouth is gaping open wide, because I’m pretty sure I get what they’re talking about. I gotta fight people, I have to prove the testing they did to me was worth it. I’ve got to go against people I know in the future.
The first room with anyone in it – looks less familiar then the other ones. I blink for a moment, and then internally put 34+35 together. After that, I realized this is the version of Kaji that I remember. I don’t remember Skylar with his blonde hair, because he, like Yasuo, got lost in a future fight. The walls were burned, Kaji being a fire wielder never liked to leave things cold.
Even the glass to his room had a vignette of chargrilled corners. His eyes were the color of fire, and were practically on fire. At this age wouldn’t he have been with Mike? Did they catch him in an alternative timeline and put him here? Shit no, that’s – that is him from another timeline. That’s Felix, his fenix clone.
Felix wasn’t from the future, he wasn’t from our time – but off and on he’d tried to atone for his sins by helping us out. His mind folded in on itself sometime before all this shit started again, and from what I can now remember – he was thought to be the father of Matthew and Lucas. It’s a complicated situation as somehow i’m recalling them being not just Rana’s but of Kristoff as well. Incest is illegal isn’t it? Ok, bad thought train – theoretically we have enough DNA by the time we’re changed from the process of losing our humanity we’re no longer the same person.
Creepy. I shook my head and stared in front of me at another window.
Blood stained the window, and the figure sitting on the bed was someone in their late forties or early fifties I’d gather. Yet his hair was pure whiite, his eyes were pure white and he had a salt and pepper beard on him. This one’s only familiar because I know what happens to him after a few more arena trials.
He’s the Silver Fox, and he eventually attacks Ryan in one of these trials and due to our fusion abilities – the Silver Fox permanently becomes a part of Ryan. These government places made a seventeen year old kid who’d split off their own being once – FUSE with a traumatized baby boomer from Australia.
Third room, He’s frail, and his eyes aren’t even one single color. His face is distorted, he’s fearful but at the same time crazed. His hair looks matted, out of place – it’s not long, but it’s not short either. It’s probably a snarled mess? His eyes are youthful, he’s not just frail – but he’s a rail. He’s taller than me I can tell, and the green in his eyes are dimmed. He’s already been changed. There’s evidence of this with a pile of bones in the corner of the room, he’s already had to deal with being forced.
Rana didn’t exist when we were this young, or did he?
The bones? Well, as you can already tell it’s not like it’s just one gender or two that exist with these aliens. Gender diverse as they all are, they all can get knocked up. You know how puberty hits when you’re a human? And you’re a freaking hornball with nothing better to do than listen to sexy music and hope nobody hears you in your bedroom?
This isn’t even your teenage love story where someone gets pregnant before they’re eighteen and decide to go through with it.
Some races on Tasogare have to feed on others, if someone isn’t there to care for them and feed them properly that is. Well, no not even then – there’s one race that dominated half their quadrant that can’t even feed that way without needing a midnight snack. I heard horror stories of human fast food chains setting up across the quadrant just for the Arashi to keep nourished when they didn’t want to murder others. Yet even the constant supply of shitty unhealthy human fast food couldn’t keep them from that. It was in their nature, and it wasn’t something that they took for granted. Well, ok most people tried not to over there.
From the number of bones? He’s just finished two cycles, and he’s miscarried both times. Tasogare races are also ones that can literally make themselves pregnant, so uh – masturbation isn’t always a great idea when you’re in the mood. Gender diverse is just another word to mention that the gender shifters are the ones that get knocked up the most.
My stomach drops as I watch Rana wretch into the toilet and you can see his life cords coming out where his legs should be and some coming out of his mouth to hold him at the toilet while he relieves a few loads of after-birth down the canister. He didn’t get a choice to be changed, and my memory doesn’t recall Rana being here the first time.
How am I going to – how am I expected to fight myself if the game’s been changed and I could literally be fighting someone who’s about to enter a third cycle. From what I can see none of these are from flicking a cherry or two – they’ve got someone on hand so they can force an army out of Rana’s body.
A nondescript, dead test subject – almost like his brains were blown out the back of his head. Laying inside the front of this room. Slanted sitting down, or rather like he sailed down the wall to fall on his ass with his legs pointing outward. Hovering over him is Ryan. His hair is extremely Long, and it sort of reminds me of VINCENT VALENTINE – cause I’m a nerd, and he has a headband like Vincent’s. Odd how that works out but OK. His hair is thrown over one shoulder and it’s a little matted, but he’s almost a cross between freaked out, and ready to lick up the blood. His nails are long, and he’s staring at the window straight to my face. .
He hasn’t fused with the wolf yet, but he looks unkempt and ready to break the window and murder his next victim. I Forgot how dangerous Ryan used to be.
He didn’t change his humanity status until he fell in love with Yasuo on a mission about ten years ago. Yasuo was about ready to get abused by a Bus driver on Hoshii when their van broke down – and ok well, not about ready. The bus driver stuck a few cords up Yasuo, and within minutes Yasuo was about ready to have zombie bus driver babies – and in order to save him at the time Ryan offered up his body. Instead of Yasuo, well eating him – he gave Ryan the choice to share the pregnancy with him and change him in the process. Watching those two is definitely sadly like a porn flick on crack.
Thank god no offense, Yasuo miscarried because nobody wanted zombie bus driver babies.
The princess, the one they’re holding hostage because they own the world she’s from. Reiko Arashi, the last living princess from the Arashi kingdom – from the Tasogare Realm. She’s got abilities, chances are good out of fear she’s showing less of her powers and more of her alien side.. She may not be pregnant but if she’s as young as she looks- she could be using her life cords as a weapon.
Under her skirt you could see a few writhing as her legs changed in and out of being life cords. I have a feeling this isn’t just the ‘princess’ but this is when they started fucking with time. Reiko didn’t fuse with Lily until a few years after this – I didn’t meet the princess and her brother until they came to the Haven after I got out of jail.
She faced me and all you could see was Lily’s brown eyes and a tootsie pop in her mouth. This was who we came to know as Inuko eventually. Reiko never meant to take over Lily’s body but she was facing death from the Makara faction that infected her kingdom. Her parents were brutally murdered and she’d been living with her brother Tensei on earth off and on for a few years. This arena must be on a walker’s line. This is the only explanation without the timeline being utterly fucked up.
Finally in the last room, a frail, blind blonde teenager grasping at the wall – his mouth has saliva dripping out, as if he’s got to recover, before he passes out and dies. He’s not facing the window, but you can barely tell he’s got gold liquid eyes. It’s assumed he’s human, but he’s not. His humanity was due to the government testing him, and traumatising him. A fusion candidate from another world. If I didn’t know any better I’d yell out and ask if that was MIKE in the room, but being the timing we’re at it’s the other half of my husband before Mike did his soul bond. He wasn’t entirely facing me but he had a notebook with him and it looked like he was talking to someone. Normally I’d think he’d have lost the plot, and I’m sure that’s what I thought back then – but I’m almost wondering if he had a connection to Mike even then.
“Choose your poison kiddo, we haven’t got all day.” Strode grinned and pushed me towards the door to the arena where all the rooms and doors facing the fighting arena. “Many have lived and died before you so you’re either gonna live or die – no matter to me.”
“AHEM. No, this one lives to make sure of it. We’ll lose our funding if any of the four are damaged in any of the timelines this time.” The one I still don’t remember is their name in the chair, the guy that sounds like Gendou Ikari.
Hold on, in ANY of the timelines? Did they fucking drag me here?
“Last time you told me this Kam, you told me it didn’t matter, are you changing your damn tune now?” Strode growled and opened the door and shoved me out into the arena itself. By this time I couldn’t hear what they were saying, as I didn’t even choose a door before all of them opened at once.
Either i’m gonna die here because my brothers are gonna fucking murder me, or i’m doing something else for a mission? Yet at the same time, the mission is impossible because it’s half led by none other than Izuchi’s adopted human brother Satoshi aka Kam. I don’t remember why they called him Kam, and nor do I care anymore.
So far the doors being open haven’t really entered much in the way of danger to me. Just an extreme fear of the fact that the bloody door with Sir Valentine’s Clone The Fourth – also known as Ryan.. Just slammed against the wall with his hand on it. I can’t tell if he’s lusting to murder me or that’s just his injuries making him walk weird.
“It’s me Rye, you- you can trust me?” Since they’re all aware this isn’t my first time here I might as well not act like it. I probably shouldn’t because I could be risking time fluctuations.
Ryan collapsed onto his knees after coming out of his room and grunted and just stared at me for a minute. He then raised his right hand, and a middle finger straightened as he began to grin widely.
